Our Campus
Welcome to Wood
Welcome to Wood Middle School, home of the Wranglers. At Wood, we believe middle school is a time to explore, discover what interests you, and keep getting better.
Our campus is committed to developing confident, independent thinkers while recognizing that every student has different strengths, interests, and learning needs. Through strong academics, individualized support, and an exceptional variety of electives and extracurricular experiences, students have opportunities to connect with their school, develop new skills, and discover what they are capable of achieving.
At Wood, our challenge is simple: Be Better.
What Makes Wood Special
32 Ways—and Counting—to Find Your Thing
Wood offers 32 elective choices, giving students an unusually broad range of opportunities to explore their interests. From mariachi and musical theater to dance, computer science, robotics, agriculture, and more, students can try something new, develop a talent, and connect with others who share their interests.
Agriculture for Every Grade Level
Wood is the only NEISD middle school offering Agriculture courses at every grade level. Students can explore food science, investigate agricultural careers, care for chickens, grow plants in raised beds, and build hands-on skills. Eighth-grade students can also take Intro to Agriculture for high school credit, creating a natural foundation for students interested in continuing into agriscience opportunities at Madison High School.
Build. Program. Compete.
Wood’s robotics program gives students the opportunity to turn problem-solving, engineering, and technology into hands-on experience. Students can begin robotics in sixth grade and take a high-school-credit robotics course in eighth grade. Wood teams have consistently advanced to major competitions, giving students opportunities to test their skills well beyond the classroom.
Be Better
Being a Wrangler isn't about starting at the same place as everyone else. It is about continually improving from where you are today. Students are encouraged to set goals, recognize their progress, challenge themselves, and become more confident and independent learners. Whether that growth happens in the classroom, on the stage, in competition, or through a new interest, every Wrangler can find a way to Be Better.
